The Venue: Sofia University “St. Kliment Ohridski”
The 14th International Congress of Ottoman Social and Economic History (ICOSEH) in Sofia, Bulgaria, is jointly organized by the International Organization of Ottoman Social and Economic History and the Sofia University “St. Kliment Ohridski”. The academic event will take place in the main building of the Sofia University, which is the oldest Bulgarian university established in 1888.
Sofia University is a state university and is the largest in Bulgaria with its 16 faculties, 109 university majors and nearly 22 000 students. It is a research oriented university which keeps up with the highest international academic standards and traditionally takes the lead among all Bulgarian universities both within the country (according to the Bulgarian University Ranking System) and in international rankings.
The University disposes of a number of buildings throughout the city, but its main building, where the Congress will take place, is the oldest university building and is one of the architectural landmarks of Sofia. The University library, located in the inner courtyard of the main building is one of the largest research libraries in the country. The University publishing house is one of the leading academic publishers in Bulgaria.
The University is centrally located and is easily accessible from all parts of the city by means of public transportation and is at walking distance from any point of the city-center.
